Workshop 2

Field workshop on the water reservoir „Żabie Doły” and the „Sosina” basin

The leader: Andrzej Śliwiński, BSP Bird Ecology Coordinator
Date: 29.09.2007
Locations:

The research was conducted on the reservoir “Żabie Doły” which was founded in 1997 in order to conserve the scientific, educational and natural system of wasteland resulting from the dolomite and coal mining activities and the further ore processing. The area has become a nesting place for foal species.

The other research place was the “Sosina” basin in Jaworzno which came to existence as a result of the industrial activities in this area. It is a highly interesting place as a floristic and water foal habitat.
During our workshop we dealt with the following issues:

  • distinguishing basic water foul species,
  • ways of counting birds,
  • filling out the observations forms,
  • preparing photographic documentaries.

We recognized several species of water birds.
